Soba Noodles with Grilled Shrimp and Orange Dipping Sauce
On Monday night, my favorite style maven and good friend, Natous, and I made true of our word and finally cooked dinner together. After a miserable attempt at trying to make pumpkin pie (apparently whole milk is no substitute for condensed milk), we were determined to try our hand in the kitchen once more. And so, we decided to be adventurous and make Martha’s soba noodles. I could not believe how simple it was to prepare the orange ginger dipping sauce and how nicely everything came together. I think this recipe is a staple! Gosh, I love venturing outside of my cooking comfort zone sometimes.
Recipe courtesy of Martha Stewart’s Everyday Living:
1/4 cup fresh orange juice (from 1 orange)
2 tablespoons mirin (rice wine)
1 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons minced jalapeno
1/2 teaspoon grated peeled fresh ginger
shrimp
soba
desired toppings, such as carrot, cucumber, radish, avocado, snow peas, cilantro, and scallion
combine orange juice, mirin, soy sauce, vinegar, chile and ginger in another bowl, marinate shrimp in 3 tablespoons sauce 10 minutes.
Cook shrimp.
Combine.
I love Natous call outs.
