Matchbook hits the spot with this fall update for a living room. I love a good plaid/cream/purple throw.
This Looks Fall
Summer Essentials
Feeling inspired by The Coveteur and Vogue collaboration featuring snapshots of Vogue’s favorite fashion players’ weekend travel bags, I created my own version of my summer essentials. In addition to the latest magazine, my book of the moment, and a big iced coffee in hand, I would pack…
1. Charles and Charles Rose for the host; 2. J. Crew leather capri sandals (in black or neon); 3. Old Navy wedges (the most comfortable and inexpensive shoe ever); 4. J. Crew bikini in warm cedar (or if I had a paying job, this Tibi bikini); 5. J. Crew Timex watch (maybe with a coral strap); 6. Giles and Brother hex nut jewelry (or homemade hex nut jewelry); 7. Sunblock, Essie Geranium, and some music!
Lauren’s Bedroom {Part II}
Dear Lauren,
Please forgive me for letting finals get in the way of posting my design boards for your bedroom. This is the second (and final) installment of your boards. You had mentioned wanting window treatments and this bedroom set up looked so much like your bedroom that I couldn’t help but post it. I really like the neutral headboard, the black iron curtain rod, and the lacquered white lamps flanking the bed. As for your nook, I browsed IKEA and found a wonderful white chaise lounge and large silver mirror for your corner. Judging by the inspiration picture, moving a wooden desk and adding a Louis Chair would look equally as good in your empty corner. Let me know what you think and please send me photos of the final picture!
Thanks for letting me help you on this Project of a Lifetime. Friends/readers of the blog (all 10 of you), please let me know if you ever want me to help you with something like this. I had so much fun doing it!
Lauren’s Bedroom {Part I}
The Project of a Lifetime.
One of my good, good friends asked me to help her spruce up an empty area in her large, sunny bedroom in LA. When you don’t live in a small city or in a cramped college town, there is a lot more space that the renter needs to fill. Her guidelines were a mirror, a sitting area and some wall art. Below is the first, simple design board that I created for her. Both the bench and the mirror are from Home Depot. Another friend owns the mirror and it is gorgeous and fairly big. It would look great hung up horizontally above the bench. I also found this mirror from Craigslist, which I think would look great spray-painted gold like the mirror in the Lonny bedroom. Top it off with two black and white framed photographs and I think you have a nook!

P.S. Lots of frame shops in NYC sell fairly cheap gilded mirrors, which would also help to recreate this look.
Music Festival Style
With Coachella kicking off today, I think it’s safe to say that (1) summer is officially around the corner and (2) it’s time to mark the beginning of the summer music festivals. I’m so sad I’m not going out to LA this year, but I am thinking of booking a ticket to either Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, or Outside Lands. I guess it just depends on whether I prefer a sick lineup or a cool city. In light of the upcoming festivals I made a little design board about what I would wear/buy for the shows. The tent is thrown in because that’s what I wish my sleeping quarters would actually look like at Bonnaroo.

Wool and the Gang shirt, DIY rope necklace, Nars multiple, neon Essie nails, Evian mist, Zara clutch.
Spring Doorr Board II
This spring, I would love: a new clutch or cool neon satchel, a light fuschia lipstick, peachy-pink nails, colorful spring bedding and trinkets for the home, a white watch, a healthier diet, soft tank tops and dresses, sunny shades.
Row 1: Neon leather satchel, T-bags dress, fuchsia lipstick, Missoni bedding; Row 2: Anthropologie Amazon pitcher and dishes, mustard sunglasses, Essie’s Haute as Hello; Row 3: lentil salad, Madewell tank top, white Michael Kors watch
